The Map Project began in 2013, with artists from Croatia and England. Artists explored the meaning of the place they called HOME – the geography, culture, history, and their perceptions of being there.
The project is community orientated and self financed. It provides opportunities for artists to extend their practice through collaboration, to get to know artists from other countries and to share creative specialities with the local communities. The project is eco aware – materials are reclaimed and locally sourced. To date, 85 artists from 8 countries: Australia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Slovenia, Scotland, Poland (2 groups) and England have made the Maps.
Groups are self governing and entirely voluntary, based on good will and sharing skills and ideas. Information about past exhibitions and projects in all partner countries can be seen on the blog pages www.themapproject13.blogspot.com
